Small world II
Tonight while out on the Bahia Belle, a woman came up to me and said, “Hi Celia, I’m Jenn.” I didn’t have a name tag on and I wondered why she thought she knew me. She explained that she was in the online Business Reference course I teach. It’s all online and not every student sends in a picture, so I had never actually seen her before but my picture is in the course so she recognized me–I’m famous! It’s not *that* small world that I would run into someone like this at a library conference, but this is the first time I’ve “accidentally” run into students (I’ve met a few others, but we planned the meet-ups knowing we’d be at the same conference). The other small world part in this case is that, even though the course has students from all over the US (sometimes we even have a few international students) it turns out she lives in the same neighborhood as I do in Chicago *and* she also used to work with my husband.
